Reasons India Lost Border Gavaskar Trophy: Australia has defeated India by a margin of 3-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. This series started from 22nd November in Perth and now it has ended in Sydney. Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged Player of the Series for dismissing the most wickets in the series, i.e. a total of 32 batsmen. During the entire series, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Travis Head and Virat Kohli also scored centuries, but some proved to be laggards. Let us know here who was responsible for the defeat of the Indian team?
1. Rohit Sharma
Captain Rohit Sharma played the biggest role in the defeat of the Indian team. In his absence, India won the Perth Test by 295 runs under the captaincy of Jasprit Bumrah. But Rohit Sharma’s personal performance and his defensive captaincy in the next 3 matches were also heavily criticized. Rohit played 3 matches, in which he could score only 31 runs in five innings.
2. Team management and coach Gautam Gambhir
When Team India took the field in the first match of the series, the team performed well in the bowling and batting departments. Rohit Sharma made a comeback in the second match, due to which Washington Sundar was dropped from the team. When Harshit Rana did not play in the second test, Akashdeep got the place. Rohit Sharma was not scoring runs at the sixth position, so he returned to the opening in the fourth test. When the last match of the series came, two changes were made in the team. When the team combination is constantly changing, how can the players keep pace with each other? Team management has also played a big role in this defeat.
3. Virat Kohli
Before the recently concluded series, Virat Kohli had scored 1,979 runs in 42 innings in Border-Gavaskar history. But in this series he could score only 190 runs in 9 innings. Excluding the century he scored in the second innings of the Perth Test, he could score only 90 runs in 8 innings. Virat’s play in the middle order was very important, but he proved to be a complete failure.
4. Shubhman Gill
For the last four times, Cheteshwar Pujara had been scoring a lot of runs while playing at number 3 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. That period of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2018-19 when Pujara scored 521 runs in just 7 innings at an average of 74.42 in the series. Pujara has scored 2,033 runs in the history of this series. In the recent series, Gill scored only 93 runs in 5 innings while batting at number three.
5. Mohammad Siraj
The bowler who took the most wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was Jasprit Bumrah, who set a new record by dismissing a total of 32 batsmen. The second highest wicket taker for India was bowler Mohammad Siraj, who took a total of 20 wickets. Siraj may have been able to take so many wickets, but he proved to be a failure on those occasions when the team was in dire need of wickets. Especially Bumrah had created pressure from one end, but Siraj was not able to create pressure from the other end.
