Team India: Team India is going through a difficult phase at the moment. After the defeat in the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, BCCI has taken a tough stance and issued some new guidelines for the players of Team India in which the wives of Indian cricketers will no longer be able to stay with the players on the tour for long.
Former Team India cricketer Kirti Azad did not like these guidelines of BCCI and he filed a complaint against BCCI. Former cricketer Kirti Azad, while talking to Republic Media, said that when the wives of the players were with them during the T20 World Cup, you did not raise any objection, then what is the need to create so much hue and cry after the defeat in a series.
BCCI’s new guidelines after the defeat in Border Gavaskar Trophy
Team India has faced defeat at the hands of Australia after 10 years in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. After the defeat in this series, BCCI seems to be in a mood to take strict action against the players of Team India as well as the head coach Gautam Gambhir. The Indian team has to play the ICC Champions Trophy match in the coming month. In such a situation, if Team India does not perform well in this tournament or loses, then BCCI can take strict action against Gautam Gambhir.
Wives will not be able to spend much time with players on foreign tours
After the defeat in BGT, BCCI has introduced new guidelines regarding Team India’s foreign tours. By changing the rules, the Board has reduced the freedom for wives of Indian cricketers to stay with their husbands for a longer period on foreign tours.

What is the new guideline of BCCI?
According to reports, BCCI has decided to limit the time cricketers spend with their families on foreign tours. According to the new rules, wives and families of players will be allowed to stay for a maximum of two weeks (i.e. up to 14 days) during the 45-day tour. Earlier, family members were allowed to accompany the players for the entire duration of the tour. According to the report, BCCI has said that this spoils the focus of the players.
Kirti Azad mentioned T20 World Cup
Former Team India player Kirti Azad raised objection to this decision of BCCI. He raised questions on BCCI as well as the team management and said,
“The management knows nothing about the ups and downs of cricket. When Team India won the T20 World Cup, the players’ wives were with them, so no one cared about their families. Now that you have lost. , then you start looking for excuses.”
Kirti Azad took BCCI class
Continuing his talk, the former cricketer further said that,
“This is a game of cricket, a game of technical matters. This is a game where you need a lot of talent. The people who are part of the team management do not have any skills, they do not have brains and neither do they know what cricket is. There should be a set of rules. Why do they start changing the rules after every series? Australia, England, they all have the same rules. You should enjoy cricket. Cricket is a game of uncertainties. BCCI people themselves leak the things in the dressing room and blame it on the players.”
