Neither petrol nor diesel, this truck will run on ‘hydrogen’, Tata Motors has prepared to put it on the road.

Last week, at the ‘Bharat Mobility Global Expo’ 2025, Tata Motors presented to the country a truck powered by hydrogen internal combustion engine. Now the company has given information about taking it on the road.

New Delhi. The demand for green energy powered and electric vehicles is increasing in the country and the world. Keeping this in mind, the world’s big automobile companies are launching their future vehicles. In this series, Tata Motors has announced that it will initially launch trucks running on hydrogen internal combustion engines on the roads in the March quarter. A senior official of the company gave this information. Last week, Tata Motors presented to the country a truck powered by hydrogen internal combustion engine at the global vehicle exhibition ‘Bharat Mobility Global Expo’ 2025.

Girish Wagh, executive director of Tata Motors, said that the company is preparing for both the technologies hydrogen internal combustion engine and fuel cell electric vehicle.

Hydrogen trucks will run on these routes

Actually, petrol is not used in trucks powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Because, they use hydrogen to generate electricity. Tata Motors said that trucks with hydrogen internal combustion engines will start appearing on the roads from this quarter. It will be run on three routes Mumbai-Pune, Jamshedpur-Kalinganagar and Mumbai-Ahmedabad. Wagh told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that the experience gained at the initial stage will be used to improve the product as well as improve the infrastructure for hydrogen fuel.

He said this on Friday on the sidelines of ‘India Mobility Global Expo’ 2025 in the national capital. Vadya said, “We already have 15 electric fuel cell buses which have been running in collaboration with IOCL (Indian Oil Corporation Limited) for more than 10 months. A lot of work is being done on the value chain regarding the use of hydrogen as fuel.
