Is Awami League a threat?
When asked if he considers the urged Awami League a threat, he clearly said, “Absolutely! It is clear! They are constantly making announcements, giving speeches, provoking the public.” Awami League leaders are holding public meetings and announced programs like strike and protests. Yunus expressed apprehension that the situation could worsen and all this would not be dealt with peacefully.
Worse situation in Bangladesh
Bangladesh has been in constant instability since the fall of Sheikh Hasina government. Awami League leaders and activists are being attacked. Cases of violence against minorities are also coming up. The Yunus administration has so far failed to completely control the situation.
Pressure on Yunus administration increased
Recently, Awami League’s victory in the Bar Association election challenged the government. The army chief’s Younus administration can create new troubles for the government and increase in student organizations. The administration is worried about the fact that the public should not go back to Hasina’s favor again. The exercise to prepare a list of crimes committed during the tenure of Hasina government is also considered a part of this strategy.
Political instability is increasing in Bangladesh and the pressure of the public and opposition on the Yunus administration is continuously increasing. Things may worsen in the coming days, because opposition parties can intensify protests and agitation.
