Waqf amendment bill: Today (April 2) is going to be very important in Parliament. The government is ready to introduce the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha at 12 noon. During this time a political struggle can be seen. The BJP has also issued a whip to all its MPs to be present in the House today.
Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will present the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha today. It will be discussed first and then voting. After the bill is introduced, 8 hours have been given for discussion. Earlier, let us know who is going to meet the government on the Waqf bill and who is against it?
Who will oppose the government, who will oppose?
The entire NDA is united about the Waqf Amendment Bill. After Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar’s JDU has also come with the government regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Party (HAM) is an ally of NDA. Manjhi also indicated to come together on this bill. Other parties involved in the NDA have also announced support.
At the same time, if you talk about the opposition, the opposition is also together regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. All the opposition parties including Congress, Samajism Party, RJD, TMC, DMK, AIMIM are against this bill.
What does the numberge say?
BJP has 240 MPs in the Lok Sabha with 542 members. At the same time, if we look at the number of members of NDA in the Lok Sabha, it is 293. At the same time, there are 233 MPs in the Lok Sabha near the opposition Idi block. Chandrashekhar of its Avwa Azad Samaj Party, Harsimat Kaur Badal of Shiromani Akali Dal is not part of any alliance. There are also many independent MPs, which are not openly with any alliance. However, 272 votes will be needed in support to pass the bill. In such a situation, the government is assuming that there is no problem in passing the bill in the Lok Sabha.
Talking about the Rajya Sabha, the total number of members in the upper house is 236. BJP has a total of 98 members. At the same time, the total number of members of NDA reaches 115. If the nominated 6 members are added, it will reach the number 121. The Rajya Sabha has 27 members of the Congress and a total of 85 members in the INDI alliance. The majority figure to pass the bill in the Rajya Sabha is 119. In such a situation, the government hopes that the bill will also be passed in the Rajya Sabha.
We want to discuss- Kiren Rijiju
The Union Minister said that time should be extended to discuss the bill, time can be extended, but if they (opposition) do not want to participate in the discussion by making an excuse, I cannot stop it. We want discussion.
He said that every political party has the right to speak and the country wants to hear which political party is on the amendment bill. This will be recorded for thousands of years, it will remain in the record of who opposed the amendment bill and who supported. Soon after the Question Hour on 2 April, I want to present the Amendment Bill to consider and pass, after that we have agreed to discuss 8 hours. Please tell that this budget session will run till 4 April.
