Mayawati on Amit Shah: Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has expressed strong displeasure over the remarks made by Home Minister Amit Shah citing Ambedkar. He described Shah’s remarks as a demonstration of the casteist and anti-Dalit mentality of the BJP.
Actually, Amit Shah was replying during the discussion on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, 17 December. During this time, he showed the mirror to Congress and revealed his views towards Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Shah had said – ‘It has become a fashion now – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar… If you had taken so many names of God, you would have gone to heaven for 7 births.’ However, now the statement has been made an issue by taking just a 14 second video of his speech. Leaders of opposition parties are alleging that Amit Shah has insulted Baba Saheb Ambedkar. At present, Mayawati has reacted sharply to Shah’s statements towards Ambedkar.
‘Political bread under the guise of Baba Saheb…’
BSP chief Mayawati has tied both Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party together. He has said that the people of Congress and BJP should give full respect and honor to Baba Saheb Ambedkar instead of earning their political bread under the guise of Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
In a series of posts on her official account, Mayawati said, ‘Instead of trying to earn their political bread under the guise of Baba Saheb, Congress, BJP and company people should give him full respect and honour. Whatever God they have for these parties, the party (BSP) has no objection to them.
‘Only because of Ambedkar Dalits got heaven’
He further said that the only God for Dalits and other marginalized people is Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, because of whom these classes got heaven for seven lives, when they were given legal rights in the Constitution.
Mayawati says that hence the love of parties like Congress and BJP towards Dalits and other neglected people is a pure illusion. Due to this, the true interest and welfare of these classes is impossible. He said that the work of these parties is more cosmetic and less public-friendly. The Bahujan community and its great saints, gurus and great men could get due respect only under the BSP government.
