Opposition and ruling party members demonstrated in the Parliament complex on Thursday on the issue related to Babasaheb Ambedkar and during this they were allegedly scuffled. Bharatiya Janata Party alleges that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi pushed and pushed, due to which its senior MP Pratap Sarangi got injured. Sarangi was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi claimed that BJP MPs stopped him and other opposition members from entering the Parliament House and heckled him. Opposition members took out a march in protest against Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks related to Babasaheb Ambedkar, while BJP MPs protested accusing the Congress of insulting Babasaheb. Near the ‘Makar Gate’ of the Parliament House, members of the ruling party and the opposition came in front of each other and raised slogans.
Congress released a video claiming that BJP members manhandled several women MPs, including Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in the Parliament complex, which shows the dictatorship of the BJP. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey while talking to reporters alleged, “Rahul Gandhi had entered the middle to fight. As if his behavior was that of a hooligan, this country will not tolerate hooligans. He pushed one of our elderly MPs and made him fall.
Rahul Gandhi told reporters in the Parliament complex, “I was trying to go inside the Parliament. But the BJP MPs were trying to stop me, pushing and threatening me.” Rahul Gandhi claimed that Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi were also pushed and shoved, but it does not make any difference to the opposition.
The Congress leader said, “This is Parliament and it is our right to go inside.” He said that the main issue is that the Constitution and the memory of Baba Saheb have been insulted. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told reporters that Sarangi suffered head injuries and some stitches were given to stop the bleeding.
Chauhan and Union Minister Prahlad Joshi also went to the hospital and met Sarangi. Many members of the opposition had reached Parliament on Thursday wearing blue clothes and carrying placards with Babasaheb’s picture in their hands. Blue color is seen as a symbol of Ambedkar and his ideas.
Rahul Gandhi, who often wears a white T-shirt, reached Parliament on Thursday wearing a blue T-shirt. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi was wearing a blue saree. There has been a deadlock in both the houses of Parliament since Wednesday over Shah’s remarks. Congress and several other opposition parties have alleged that Shah insulted Babasaheb during his address on Tuesday while replying to the two-day discussion in the Rajya Sabha on ’75 years of glorious journey of the Constitution of India’.
The main opposition party also released a video excerpt of Shah’s address, in which the Home Minister can be heard taking a dig at the opposition, saying, “It has become a fashion now – Ambedkar, Ambedkar….” If you had taken this much name of God, you would have gone to heaven for seven births.” On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that the Congress always insulted Babasaheb and even made him lose in the elections.
