Shubman Gill has now joined the list of the youngest Indian players who have scored a double century in Test cricket. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was the youngest player to score a double century as the youngest in the Test, who scored a double century at the age of 23 years 39 days. At the same time, Gill has done this feat at the age of 25 years 298 days.
With this, Shubman Gill has now joined the Indian batsmen who scored a double century in the Test as an Indian captain. Virat Kohli had scored 7 double centuries in Test format for India as a captain, besides Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi could do this once. Now Shubman Gill has also joined this special list.
Shubman Gill has become the first Asian captain to score a double century in army countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia). Before him, the record of the biggest score in the army countries by the Asian captain was the name of Sri Lanka’s Tilakaratne Dilshan, who scored 193 runs in 2011. This is only the second double century created by the Indian captain on a foreign tour. Only Virat Kohli was able to do this before him.
