New Delhi. Alan Musk’s company Tesla is desperate to sell its electric cars in India. After renting office in India and starting recruitment of employees, the company has taken another big step. Tesla has started the process for certification and home -ology of its two electric cars in India, which is an essential process for all vehicles before being sold in the country.
According to industry sources, Tesla India Motor and Energy Private Limited (Indian unit of Tesla) has submitted two new applications for home -ology of model Y and Model 3 cars in India. Homological is considered an important process in the auto sector, in which it is proved that the vehicle is worth running on the road and meets the criteria set for all vehicles manufactured or imported in India.

Application has been approved
Tests ensure that the vehicle matches the Indian market requirements in terms of emission and safety as per central motor vehicle rules. The company had earlier submitted seven applications for home -ology in India, which were for testing cars. The eighth application was recently approved. This news has come at a time when America and India are talking on free trade agreement to increase trade between the two countries.

Due to strict sanctions on American companies in China, Musk wants to enter India’s third largest car market in India. At the same time, the Government of India wants Musk to set up a manufacturing plant in India to escape Tesla in the local market. At the same time, Musk wants to sell vehicles by importing it to India initially.
Sale of EV cars increased by 20 percent
Electric car sales in India increased by 20 percent to 99,165 units in 2024, which was 82,688 units in 2023. Tata Motors and JSW MG Motors are currently top electric car companies. In addition, a strong growth in the electric two-wheeler segment was recorded, in 2024 there was a sale of 1.13 million units, which was more than 8,60,000 units in 2023. EV’s share in the auto market has increased from 6.39 percent in 2023 to 7.46 percent in 2024.
