Mallikarjun Kharge on Amit Shah: There is an uproar over Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Ambedkar. There is a continuous demand for apology from the Congress. Now Congress President Kharge has demanded from PM Modi to dismiss Shah.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge held a press conference from AICC headquarters. During this, Kharge accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of insulting Constitution maker Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and demanded that instead of defending him, Prime Minister Modi should dismiss him from the cabinet by 12 o’clock tonight. One who becomes a minister by taking oath under the Constitution and if he insults the same Constitution, then he has no right to be in the cabinet. He should be dismissed immediately, otherwise people are ready to sacrifice their lives for him (Baba Saheb).
He said that the comments made by Amit Shah on Ambedkar are condemnable. It is unfortunate for the country that such remarks have been made about a Dalit hero who is revered by all. Apart from this, he also claimed that the matter of heaven and hell is a matter of Manu Smriti and these people do not believe in the Constitution. Taking a jibe at Shah, Kharge also said that it is not Amit Shah’s fault because this is what is taught in the school where he studied.
The Congress chief says that PM Modi made several posts on X in defense of Shah. Rather, Shah should have been removed from the cabinet for speaking wrongly about Babasaheb. Earlier, Kharge had claimed in the Parliament complex that Shah’s comment meant that even taking Babasaheb’s name was a crime.
‘Shah should apologize and resign from the post’
The Congress President said, ‘According to the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, the entire opposition has expressed protest against the way the Home Minister insulted Babasaheb. The ideology of Manusmriti and RSS in the minds of Amit Shah and BJP people shows that they do not respect Babasaheb’s Constitution. We strongly oppose Shah’s remarks. The country and its countrymen will not tolerate the insult of Babasaheb. Amit Shah should apologize to the entire country and resign from his post.
Congress and several other opposition parties allege that Shah insulted Babasaheb while replying to the two-day discussion in the Rajya Sabha on the topic of 75 years of glorious journey of the Constitution of India.
Amit Shah was replying during the discussion on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, 17 December. During this time, he showed the mirror to Congress and revealed his views towards Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Shah had said – ‘It has become a fashion now – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar… If you had taken so many names of God, you would have gone to heaven for 7 births.’ However, now the statement has been made an issue by taking just a 14 second video of his speech.
