Pat Cummins on Jasprit Bumrah: Before the India vs Australia Sydney Test, Kangaroo team captain Pat Cummins has praised Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah is the highest wicket-taker in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) so far, having sent 30 batsmen of the Australian team to the pavilion. Now Pat Cummins says that getting rid of Bumrah is always a difficult task and he has been bowling tremendously for a long time.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Pat Cummins said, “Bumrah is bowling very well at the moment. It is always difficult to face him. I hope that by the time I come to bat, he will have bowled a lot.” “, which may make batting easier for me. But he is bowling very well. I have faced him in different formats across the world and facing him is always a difficult task.” Apart from this, Cummins also said jokingly that whenever Bumrah came to bowl in the last match, he was at the non-striking end.
If we talk about the bowlers who have taken the most wickets so far in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Jasprit Bumrah is far ahead of the other players. He has taken a total of 30 wickets in the series so far. After him in this list, Pat Cummins is at second place, who has sent 20 Indian batsmen to the pavilion so far. Mohammad Siraj has taken 16 wickets so far and Mitchell Starc has taken 15 wickets so far.
Bumrah has broken the record
Till recently, the record of taking most wickets in a single series of Border-Gavaskar Trophy was in the name of Australia’s Ben Hilfenhaus. He had taken a total of 27 wickets in the 2011-12 series but Jasprit Bumrah has already taken 30 wickets in the first four matches and can improve his record even further in the Sydney Test.
