High Commissioner Dr. Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit emphasized the importance of Ayurveda as a holistic wellness science and its growing global acceptance. He called on the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to revive the Ayurveda Chair at the University of the West Indies (UWI), thereby encouraging research and collaboration in this ancient practice.
Speaking on the occasion, Prem Bhandari, President, Jaipur Foot USA, New York said – “On this auspicious Ayurveda Day, we pay tribute to Maharishi Dhanwantari, who is known as the ‘Father’ of Ayurveda. He provided natural remedies and holistic health guidance to humanity through Charak Samhita. “Ayurveda is India’s precious gift to the world, promoting health, balance and harmony.”
Bhandari also highlighted the humanitarian efforts of Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), the parent organization of Jaipur Foot USA. This organization was founded in 1975 by Padmabhushan D.R. Mehta and has since transformed the lives of more than 22 lakh persons with disabilities through 114 international camps in 42 countries.

Swami Brahmaswaroopanand Ji of Brahma Vidya Peetham International (Trinidad) and Swami Sarvlokanand Ji of Ramakrishna Mission (New Delhi) also shared their views in this program. He highlighted the physical and mental health benefits of Ayurveda. Additionally, an Ayurveda exhibition organized by Brydon PI Limited showcased herbal products from renowned brands like Himalaya.
The statement of the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi was also presented: “India is a treasure trove of herbs; This, in a way, is our ‘green gold’.” It is noteworthy that the former king of Jodhpur, Gaj Singh, had also been the High Commissioner in Trinidad from 1978 to 1980.
Bhajan Evening at Dattatreya Yoga Center A spiritual and inspirational Bhajan Evening was held at Dattatreya Yoga Center in Carapachima, Trinidad. This program took place in the sacred presence of the world’s third largest Hanuman idol, 85 feet high. This idol has been consecrated by its holy master Sri Sri Sri Ganpati Sachidanand Ji.
The event was attended by High Commissioner Dr. Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit, Prem Bhandari, Founder of Overseas Friends of Ram Mandir, New York, Hon’ble MP Rudranath Indersingh (Couva North), Hon’ble MP Ravi Ratiram (Couva South), and many prominent spiritual leaders like Swami Brahmaswaroopanand Ji, Swami Sarvlokanand ji and Swami Brahmadev ji were present.
Dr. Rajpurohit announced the Jaipur Foot Camp to be held soon in Trinidad and described it as an important initiative for persons with disabilities. He praised the cultural achievements of Trinidad’s Hindu community, especially the Ayodhya Ram Temple festival.

Prem Bhandari praised Trinidad’s spirituality, saying: “Wherever I go, I see temples of Sita Ram and Hanuman, which makes Trinidad seem like a Ramayana city. I remember how more than 5,000 devotees celebrated the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Utsav and in another event more than 15,000 devotees recited Hanuman Chalisa together. This reflects the deep righteousness of this land.”
During the programme, a historic moment came when Ram Janmabhoomi Sthapana Committee Chairman Amit Alagh presented the Ram Lalla idol memento brought from Ayodhya to Prem Bhandari. Calling it a ‘once in a lifetime’ blessing, he invited everyone to attend the statue consecration ceremony in April 2025.
The evening concluded with devotional music presented by Dutta Kirtan Mandali and Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Cultural Relations, which left a deep spiritual impression on the hearts of all present.
