Varun Dhawan’s Baby John continues to face a challenging run at the box office, showing little to no growth even on the New Year holiday. After opening with a promising Rs 11.25 crore net on Christmas Day, the film failed to gain momentum in the week that followed. The film that began its box office run with an early start on Wednesday, the Christmas holiday, wrapped up its 5-day weekend with an estimated Rs 28.65 crore net.
The decline began on its first Monday, with collections plummeting to Rs 1.85 crore and the film struggling to gain traction. By the end of its first week, Baby John had managed to earn Rs 32.65 crore net.
On Day 8, despite the New Year holiday, the movie added just Rs 2.75 crore net, bringing its total collection to Rs 35.40 crore net in India.
Interestingly, while the film struggled to gain a footing at the box office, the other films like Pushpa 2: The Rule and Mufasa: The Lion King had no qualms raking in the big bucks at the box office. While the Allu Arjun starrer earned over Rs 13 crore in its 4th week and set a new box office record, the Hollywood live-action Mufasa raked in an estimated Rs 9.40 crore net across all languages, taking its total collection to an impressive Rs 122.1 crore. .
The second weekend is pivotal for Baby John as it attempts to stabilize its box office performance. Industry estimates suggest that even with steady collections, the film may struggle to surpass Rs 45 -50 crore net ark in its lifetime run.
On a global scale, Baby John is projected to wrap its theatrical run with less than Rs 75 crore gross.
