Sheikh Hasina Return Back to Bangladesh: Rabbi Alam made a significant announcement on Wednesday (March 12), a senior leader of Awami League and a close aide of Sheikh Hasina. He claimed that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina may soon return to Bangladesh as Prime Minister. His statement came when Bangladesh is going through a serious political crisis. Alam also revealed that the role of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been important in ensuring the safety of Hasina and other Awami League leaders.
Sheikh Hasina took refuge in India due to political instability in Bangladesh. After the violent movement, Hasina fled from Bangladesh in August 2024 and entered India. He was brought to Hindon Airbase near Delhi by Indian Army aircraft. India gave her asylum in an emergency, and since then she has been living in an unknown place in Delhi.
International intervention required
Rabbi Alam demanded the international community to intervene on the situation in Bangladesh. He believes that the political crisis of the country should be seen as a terrorist rebellion. He refused to consider this movement as only a political struggle and called it a “terrorist rebellion”. According to him, many Awami League leaders have also taken shelter in India and have expressed gratitude to the government of India.
Hasina’s extradition and new government of Bangladesh
After Hasina left the country, an interim government was formed under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus. This government has requested India for extradition of Hasina. The Bangladesh government recently said that India has not yet given any official response to this request. Meanwhile, the Yunus government has filed hundreds of cases against Sheikh Hasina, including crimes against humanity.
Bangladesh politics
The politics of Bangladesh stands at a serious turn, where the discussion of Sheikh Hasina’s return has intensified. The statement made by Rabbi Alam and the role of India has made this situation more complicated. In the coming days, Hasina’s return and international intervention will be monitored, which will determine the future of Bangladesh.
