Bangladesh Election Commission: Currently, the interim government of Mohammad Yunus is in power in Bangladesh. Due to the anti-government student movement, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina had to leave her post and country and come to India to take refuge. When Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh and came to India, it seemed that her political career was over. More than 100 cases were registered against Hasina.
At the same time, an advisor of Mohammad Yunus had also said that he is preparing to stop Hasina’s party Awami League from contesting the elections. After this, several petitions were filed in the Bangladesh court, so that Awami League could be legally prevented from contesting the elections. However, Sheikh Hasina has got a big relief from the Election Commission. The Election Commission of Bangladesh said, ‘There is no legal obstacle to stop Awami League from contesting the elections.’
League should not be banned from contesting elections, but action should be taken against leaders
Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party had said that they do not want Awami League to be banned from contesting elections. However, he is definitely in favor of action against Sheikh Hasina and other big leaders of her party.
Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh said this
Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh AMM Nasir Uddi, speaking in Chittagong on concerns about Awami League’s participation, said, “This is primarily a political matter, some people have even filed a petition in court to stop Awami League from participating in the elections. A case has been filed demanding the order. If the court gives any decision, we will take action accordingly, otherwise it is a political decision.”
Front has been opened against India regarding Sheikh Hasina
The interim government of Bangladesh has opened a front against India for giving shelter to Sheikh Hasina. She is continuously demanding the extradition of Sheikh Hasina from India.
