
Pakistan-bangladesh relations: Trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh has crossed one billion US dollars and it will increase further in the coming times. This is said by Muhammad Iqbal Hussain Khan, High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Pakistan. Khan came from his first visit to Kasur and Faisalabad in the evening on Sunday (February 23, 2025), where he met the business community and traders.
The High Commissioner described this journey as productive and beneficial. Iqbal Hussain took charge only last month and became the first Ambassador of Bangladesh after the pro -India government’s withdrawal of Sheikh Hasina government. The High Commissioner said that there is a great demand for many products of Pakistan in Bangladesh, while Pakistan is a beneficial market for many products in Bangladesh.

He said that it is satisfactory that after more than fifteen years, trade between the two brotherhood countries has been restored. Pakistan’s cotton, sugar, rice, apparel, especially women’s clothes, fruits, especially mangoes, are in great demand in Bangladesh, while Bangladesh can export pineapple, jute, pharmaceuticals, apparel to Pakistan.

Two meetings have been held between Shahbaz Sharif and Muhammad Yunus
The High Commissioner said that there is no limit to cooperation and trade between the two countries. Meanwhile, Pakistan has exported the first consignment of rice to Bangladesh through its national carrier, which is 26,000 MT (MT), which is the first such export in about two decades. Earlier, leaders of both countries Shahbaz Sharif and Nobel Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus had two meetings, where it was decided to strengthen all round relations between the two countries.
