During the meeting, Avinash Mitra reportedly claimed that there was no violence against minorities in Bangladesh. His statement spread anger among the Hindu community of Bangladesh. Local Hindu leaders and community are addressing him as “Vibhishana”.

Avinash Mitra’s statement has also created a stir in Bangladeshi media. The Hindu community believes that their struggle is being weakened by such statements. He alleges that Avinash Mitra is trying to develop friendship with Muhammad Yunus and is ignoring the violence against Hindus.
