
Bangladesh interim government: The interim government of Bangladesh has requested India that if former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina cannot be extradited Dhaka, then at least some restrictions should be imposed on them. Foreign Affairs advisor Mohammad Tauheed Hussain said in an interview to The Hindu that India imposed some restrictions on Hasina so that they could not give inflammatory and false statements.
Hussain said that Hasina’s statements are increasing anger among people in Bangladesh and the situation may be unstable. He said, “Hasina remained in power for 15 years and there is a lot of resentment in the public about her actions. Therefore, the Government of India should at least ban them.”
Tauheed’s statement on Indo-Bangladesh relations
Tauheed said that bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh should not be affected by any one leader. Referring to the Ganga Water Agreement of 1996-97 and the BNP rule of 2001-2006, he said that business relations between the two countries have always been strong.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus may meet at the upcoming BIMSTEC summit in April. Hussain said that this meeting will focus on strengthening the relations between the two countries.

Why did Bangladesh’s ‘Hakdi’ come out?
Sheikh Hasina has to retreat from the demand for extradition and now appeal to India to ban the Bangladesh government’s situation weakening. This is a diplomatically an important situation for India as it will have to handle the political situation in Bangladesh in a balanced manner.
