According to a report by the Chinese Communist Party’s Bhompu Global Times, a 21 -member delegation from Bangladesh visited Beijing between 25 February and 6 March. During this time he was explained in detail about China’s technological progress and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The tour was an attempt to bring Bangladesh closer to China, and China has also indicated some relief to Bangladesh in loan repayment. Bangladesh has demanded China to reduce interest rates and increase the loan repayment period. This reflects Bangladesh’s intimacy with China, which can cause trouble for India.
Growing relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh
Bangladesh is also increasing cooperation with Pakistan. According to the Times of India report, the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI played an important role in excluding Sheikh Hasina from power. In addition, a cargo ship from Pakistan recently reached Mongla port in Bangladesh, which can weaken India-Bangladesh communication.
Defense and intelligence cooperation
The exchange of defense and intelligence between Pakistan and Bangladesh has also started. Pakistan’s ISI is engaged in strengthening the radical network within Bangladesh, which may increase security threats for India.
