Bangladesh Politics Student Form News Party: In Bangladesh, the student faction, who evicted Sheikh Hasina from power, has announced to form a new political party. Nahid Islam, who was the main face of the movement against Sheikh Hasina last year, will lead this new party. The party’s official launch will take place on Friday (February 28) in Dhaka, where the party will be launched with a rally on Manik Mia Avenue near Parliament House.
Samanta Sharamin, a spokesperson of the Civil Citizen Committee, said that after the last year’s July 2024 rebellion, new ASHAs have been born in Bangladesh. Students have formed this new party because they believe that the current political party (interim government of Mohammad Yunus) does not represent all sections of the country. According to Sharamin, the new party will work to make Bangladesh a modern country and would like to bring the country to a prominent place in South Asia. Their purpose is to connect Bangladesh from all over the world and include new ideas.
Plan to modernize Bangladesh
Samanta Sharamin said that Bangladesh has been a victim of government repression for the last 53 years and government institutions have been misused. The goal of this new party is to lay the foundation of politics based on rights. Sharamin insisted that party politics will run on the basis of the fundamental rights of the people of Bangladesh. Also, relations based on fair and equality will be made with all the countries of the country.
Distance from Mohammad Yunus
Mohammad Yunus, who is currently leading the interim government, Sharamin said that he does not represent any political party. Yunus and their advisory represent the rebellion, but they are not associated with any political party.
However, Nahid Islam has decided to resign a new party by resigning from the government of Yunus. Nahid was a prominent leader of the movement against last year’s Sheikh Hasina and now he is coming with a new hope in Bangladesh politics.
Background of movement in Bangladesh
In August 2024, there was a major movement under the leadership of students in Bangladesh, resulting in heavy violence in the country. Due to this violence, Sheikh Hasina had to leave power, and then an interim government was formed under the leadership of Mohammad Yunus. Now Nahid and his colleagues have decided to give a new direction in Bangladesh politics by forming a new party.
