Pabna University of Science and Technology in Dhaka suspended two Hindu students Bikarna Das Divya and Pranay Kundu on Sunday.
Pabna University of Science and Technology at Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Sunday suspended two Hindu students Bikarna Das Divya and Prannoy Kundu on the charge of alleged insult to Islam. Apart from this, there is a demand to suspend five more Hindu students.
According to the university proctor Dr. Kamrujman Khan, allegations were made against both the students on Friday, after which a show cause notice was made immediately, but their answers were not satisfactory. An emergency meeting was called by the University’s Discipline Board to resolve the matter.
WhatsApp chats leaked on social media increased controversy Apart from this, on Saturday, 5 other students of Pharmacy Department, Electricity Government, Suvarna Sarkar, Dipu Biswas, Tanay Sarkar and Ankan Ghosh were leaked on some WhatsApp chats on social media. It is alleged that these five students were allegedly making derogatory remarks about Islam.
As soon as the matter came to light, some students of the university started protests and demanded immediate suspension of these five.
Decision will be taken on the remaining 5 students in 24 hours Students locked the university’s main gate and administration office. At around 2.30 pm on Sunday afternoon, the university proctor spoke to the students and temporarily suspended two Hindu students.
He also said that a decision will be taken within 24 hours in the case of five Hindu students of the Persian department. The students then ended their protests and opened the gates.
Hindu religious places are constantly being targeted Anti -India sentiments have been strengthened since the Sheikh Hasina government collapsed on 5 August 2024 in Bangladesh. Apart from this, religious places associated with minorities are constantly being targeted.
Hindu leaders are receiving threats. Chinmay Krishna Das, a religious leader associated with ISKCON, has been in police custody since November 25 on charges of treason.

The movement against reservation had coupled On June 5 in Bangladesh, the High Court implemented 30% quota system in the job, since then the students of universities were protesting in Dhaka. This reservation was being given to the families of freedom fighters.
When this reservation was abolished, the students started demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. On seeing this, a large number of students and common people took to the road against the Prime Minister and his government.
Two months after this Protest, on August 5, Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister and left Bangladesh and moved to India. After this, the army took over the command of the country.
