BCCI Meeting Gautam Gambhir Ajit Agarkar: Due to India’s 1-3 defeat to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, questions are being raised on the form of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. On the other hand, ever since Gautam Gambhir became the head coach, there has been a decline in the performance of the Indian team. Now a new update has come out that on Saturday, Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar are going to meet with the top officials of BCCI. In this meeting, it is also possible to discuss the future of Team India, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli due to losing 2 test series against New Zealand and Australia.
According to news agency PTI, it is possible to discuss in the meeting whether changes in the team should be made now or after the conclusion of the Champions Trophy next month. However, chances are high that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will definitely get a chance in the Champions Trophy, which can be said to be their last chance to prove themselves. Since Rohit-Virat have played only three ODI matches after the 2023 World Cup, BCCI officials may be in favor of giving them one last chance before taking any decision on their 50-over career.
As far as Test career is concerned, the decision on it can be postponed for the time being because India’s next Test series is to be played against England in the month of June-July. But it is also possible to discuss his test performance and his opinion on this subject can also be sought from head coach Gautam Gambhir. Kohli had scored only 190 runs in 5 matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, whereas he had scored a century in the Perth Test. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma’s form is much worse as only 31 runs were scored from his bat in three matches.
The Champions Trophy squad can be discussed in this meeting. However, according to a recent report, BCCI has extended the date of the squad. Earlier the deadline for announcement of the team was fixed as 12th January.
