Mohammed Shami Fitness Update: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released an update on the fitness of Mohammed Shami. A few days ago, his fitness was tested at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) located in Bengaluru. Now the investigation report has found that Shami is not completely fit yet. The BCCI medical team found that Shami’s knee injury will take time to heal. The board has also made it clear that Shami will not be able to play in the last 2 test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Currently, Shami will continue to work on improving his strength and conditioning at BCCI’s Center of Excellence on the advice of the medical staff. Shami had returned to the Bengal team for the Ranji Trophy a few weeks ago, after which he was also seen playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. But the medical examination report has revealed that Shami needs to work more on his fitness to play the longer format i.e. Test cricket.
Vijay Hazare Trophy started from 21st December, in which Shami has not been seen playing yet. Shami’s playing in Vijay Hazare Trophy will depend on the condition of his knee. BCCI’s medical team is keeping a close eye on Shami’s fitness. At present, the good news is that Shami’s heel injury has been completely cured, for which he had to undergo surgery.
