Congress is facing a tough time within the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance i.e. INDI Alliance. In Delhi Assembly, Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal have not even allowed Congress to hold the broom with their hands and now the party has got a big blow in Maharashtra too. Uddhav Thackeray’s party Shiv Sena-UBT has announced to walk away from the Congress-backed Mahavikas Aghadi alliance and contest the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. It is clear from this that Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has broken for the local body elections in Maharashtra.
Uddhav Thackeray faction leader Sanjay Raut has announced that Shiv Sena-UBT will contest the local body elections to be held in Maharashtra alone, not with Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA). Sanjay Raut said in his statement- ‘In Maharashtra, we had formed INDI block for Lok Sabha. MVA was formed for the assembly. Many times the workers are unable to fulfill their desire to fight in the alliance, hence whether it is local elections, municipal corporation, municipality, district council, gram panchayat elections, the workers should be allowed to fight. We will fight at all places including Nagpur, Mumbai.
Advice to Congress regarding INDI alliance
Sanjay Raut has cornered Congress over the disintegration in INDI alliance. Sanjay Raut says- ‘It is the responsibility of the Congress Party to save the alliance. Congress is the biggest party. It is true that the alliance was formed for the Lok Sabha elections and not a single meeting of the Bharat Alliance was held after the elections. The responsibility of calling this meeting was also of the Congress Party. We have not been able to announce the coordinator of the alliance yet, if we have to fight any force then we should keep all these things in mind.
Congress got a shock in Delhi first
The rift between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party has increased before the assembly elections to be held in Delhi in 2025. Assembly elections are to be held on February 5 and counting of votes will take place on February 8. Despite this, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee have extended their support to AAP. Congress, which has been in power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has suffered a setback in the last two assembly elections and has failed to win even a single seat. In contrast, AAP dominated the 2020 assembly elections by winning 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP got only 8 seats.
