Filmmaker Boney Kapoor came forward to support Allu Arjun amid his legal trouble in connection with the tragic death of a fan during the premiere of his latest release.Pushpa 2: The Rule‘ on December 4th. Kapoor recently stated that Arjun was “unnecessarily dragged” into the situation and that the incident was caused by the overwhelming crowd at the event rather than any negligence on the actor’s part.
In a recent discussion at the Galatta Plus roundtable for filmmakers, he said that he recounted witnessing massive crowds for film releases, noting how he was astonished to see thousands of fans waiting outside theaters for early screenings. He explained that inflated ticket prices and high demand for extra shows often lead to a chaotic situation.
He said, “Ticket rates are inflated on the first two days or at least the first day for extra shows. That is why this situation has arisen where unnecessarily Allu Arjun was dragged and blamed for the death of a fan. It was only because of the crowd that had gathered to see the film.”Allu Arjun was arrested last month on charges of culpable homicide after a stampede occurred at the Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad on December 4, leading to the death of a 35-year-old woman named Revathi and injuries to her son. Following his arrest, he was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court. The theater management has faced criticism for their handling of crowd control at the event.
Meanwhile, the film directed by Sukumar which also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in the lead continues to perform well at the box office having earned Rs 1760 crore globally.
