Nitish Kumar Reddy Success Story: For 21-year-old young cricketer Nitish Kumar Reddy, making a place in the Indian cricket team was not just a game but a fight for the honor of the family. The ‘Achilles Heel’ tattoo on his ankle symbolizes the difficulties and struggles of the last 10 years. Nitish vowed to give back to his father Mutyala Reddy the respect he had lost due to the family’s financial difficulties. While talking to PTI in the month of June, Nitish had narrated the story of his family’s days of struggle.
At the age of 12, Nitish had heard his father being insulted by relatives. Nitish’s father Mutyala Reddy had taken VRS from Hindustan Zinc and started a micro-finance business with Rs 20 lakh to fulfill Nitish’s cricket dream. But there was loss in business and friends did not repay the loan. Despite this, the family continued Nitish’s cricket career.
Nitish Kumar Reddy said, “I could return my father’s honor in only one way – by making a place in the Indian team.” At that time the family had the ability to buy only one bat for ₹ 15,000 a year.
During his maiden Test century, Nitish Kumar Reddy celebrated in ‘Amarendra Baahubali’ style, a tribute to his father. Father Mutyala said emotionally, “My happiness cannot be expressed in words. Virat sir has asked him to work harder.”
What a moment this for the youngster!
