1. Price of domestic veg thali increased by 6% in December: Effect of increase in prices of potatoes and tomatoes; Non-veg thali 12% costlier on annual basis
The price of a domestic vegetarian thali in India rose 6% (year-on-year) to Rs 31.60 in December. Last year in December 2023, the price of veg thali was Rs 29.70. Capital market company CRISIL gave this information in its monthly indicator of food plate cost.
Crisil said in its ‘RRR: Rice Roti Rate’ report that the price of vegetarian thali has decreased by 3% in December as compared to November. The price of veg thali in November was Rs 32.70.

2. Supreme Court sent cases related to Amazon-Flipkart to High Court: All cases are same, hence hearing at one place, allegation of benefiting selected sellers.
The Supreme Court has transferred the cases related to violation of market competition rules going on in different courts of the country on e-commerce platforms Amazon and Flipkart to the Karnataka High Court.
The case was heard by a bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Ujjwal Bhuyan. The court said that the subject matter involved in all the petitions is the same on which the bench of Karnataka High Court is hearing.

3. Gold became cheaper by ₹ 343, reached ₹ 77,161 per 10 grams: Silver price increased by ₹ 1031, reached ₹ 89,152 per kg.
A decline was seen in the prices of gold on Monday (January 6). According to India Bullion and Jewelers Association (IBJA), 10 grams of 24 carat gold has fallen by Rs 343 to Rs 77,161. On Friday its price was Rs 77,504 per ten grams.
At the same time, the price of one kg silver has increased by Rs 1031 to Rs 89,152 per kg. Earlier on Friday, the price of silver was Rs 88,121 per kg. Gold had made an all-time high of Rs 79,681 per 10 grams on October 30 last year. At the same time, silver had reached Rs 99,151 per kg on 23 October 2024.

4. Shares of Easy My Trip rose 4%: Nishant Pitti had said – will not sell any more stake; Focus will be on international expansion
Shares of online travel aggregator Easy My Trip Planners Limited rose by about 4% on Monday (January 6). Its co-promoter Nishant Pitti has confirmed that there will be no further stake sale.
Pitti told a TV channel in an interview that last week he had sold 1.4% stake due to personal requirements, but going forward he, Prashant or Rekant Pitti will not sell any more stake in the company.

5. Products like oil, tea become expensive by 20% in 6 months: FMCG companies can increase prices by 30% in January-March.
Prices of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) products like edible oil, soap, tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits have increased by 20% in 6 months. FMCG products mean those things which are in high demand and people use them daily. Their prices may increase further by 30% in January-March.
Prices of raw materials like palm oil, coconut, tea, cocoa and coffee have increased by 35-175% since April 2024. Due to this the increased cost is being compensated. Nuvama Institutional Equities said in a report, ‘Some FMCG companies will increase prices again in January-March.’ In the last 3 months, common household items have become costlier by 10%.

6. Redmi 14C smartphone launched at a starting price of ₹9,999: It has 6.88 inch display, 50MP camera, Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor and 5160mAh battery.
Chinese company Xiaomi has launched its new smartphone ‘Redmi 14C’ in the budget segment in the global market including India. The smartphone has a 6.88-inch HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate.
For photography, a 50-megapixel dual camera has been provided on the back panel of Redmi 14C. The company has provided Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor in the Indian variant of this smartphone. It runs on Xiaomi Hyper OS based on Android 14.
