1. 18% GST on purchasing second hand EV car from dealer: GST on fortified rice reduced to 5%, issue of GST exemption on health insurance premium averted
The 55th meeting of the GST Council was held on 21 December (Saturday) in Jaisalmer. In the press conference after the meeting, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told that 18% GST will be charged on purchasing second hand EV car from auto company and dealer. GST rates on Fortified Rice Kernels (FRK) reduced from 18% to 5%. There will be no GST on gene therapy.
GST will not be applicable on payment aggregators making payments of less than Rs 2,000. GST will also not be imposed on black pepper and raisins supplied by farmers. The deadline for GST exemption on systems and sub-systems of Long Range Surface Missile has been extended.

2. Amazon changed password sharing rules: From January, users will be able to sign in on maximum 5 devices, now they can use it on 10 devices.
Amazon has introduced a new password-sharing rule for its Prime members in India. Starting in January 2025, Prime members will be allowed to sign in to a maximum of 5 devices, including a maximum of 2 TVs.
The company issued a statement saying – As a Prime member, you and your family are entitled to enjoy Prime Video on a maximum of 5 devices. We are updating our usage term in India from January 2025. You can manage your devices on your Settings page or purchase another Prime membership to watch Prime Video on more devices.

3. Fortis Healthcare buys 7.61% stake in Agillus Diagnostics: Deal signed for Rs 429 crore, company’s stake in Agillus increases to 31.52%
Fortis Healthcare Ltd has bought 7.61% stake in Agillus Diagnostics Ltd. The company has purchased 59,70,149 equity shares from International Finance Corporation (IFC). Agillus Diagnostics is a material subsidiary of IFC.
The transaction, valued at Rs 429.37 crore, was executed at a price of ₹719.2 per share under the terms of the shareholders’ agreement, Fortis Healthcare told BSE-NSE.

4. Unimac Aerospace’s IPO will open on December 23: Investors will be able to bid till December 26, minimum investment ₹ 14,915
The initial public offer i.e. IPO of Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing Limited will open on 23 December. Investors will be able to bid for this issue till December 26. The company’s shares will be listed on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) on December 31.
The company wants to raise a total of ₹500 crore through this issue. For this, the existing investors of the company are selling 31,84,712 shares worth ₹ 250 crore. Along with this, the company is issuing 31,84,712 fresh shares worth ₹250 crore.

5. There was a big fall in gold and silver this week: Gold fell by ₹ 1,545 to ₹ 75,377, silver became cheaper by ₹ 4,843 and was being sold at ₹ 85,133 per kg.
This week there has been a big fall in the prices of gold and silver. According to the website of India Bullion and Jewelers Association (IBJA), on last Saturday i.e. 14 December, gold was at Rs 76,922, which has now come down to Rs 75,377 per 10 grams (21 December). That means its price has fallen by Rs 1,545 this week.
Silver was at Rs 89,976 last Saturday, which has now come down to Rs 85,133 per kg. In this way, its price has decreased by Rs 4,843 this week. On October 23, silver had made an all-time high of Rs 99,151 and on October 30, gold had made an all-time high of Rs 79,681.
