
Canada new visa rules: Canada has tightened its immigration and visa policy, which is affecting Indian students and workers. Under these rules implemented from February 2024, border officials have been given more rights.

According to an Economic Times report, Nikhil Jain, the founder of the Foreign Aidmites, said that despite the best academic records, the permits of many students have been canceled.
Around 7,000 visa is likely to be canceled in 2025
If a student’s permit is canceled, he may have to leave the country immediately or make a legal appeal, which starts at C $ 1,500 and has no guarantee of success.
Decline in study permit
According to Siddharth Iyer, Chief Operating Officer of OneStep Global, the study permit issued to Indian students in the fourth quarter of 2023 declined by 40%.
New Financial Rules implemented from 2025
C $ 20,635 gic (guaranteed investment certificate) will be required. This will be a major financial challenge for middle class Indian families. Indian students make 35-40% of the international student population of Canada, which will have a greater impact of this change.
Difficulty for students and workers
The cancellation of the study permit will cause problems in graduating or receiving work permits. Challenges will also increase for workers and legal migrants. Study Direct Stream (SDS) visa will be canceled. The SDS visa program is likely to be closed by the end of 2025, causing students to face more difficulties in visa application.
