England-Afghanistan CT 2025 Match Controversy: Before the release of the schedule of Champions Trophy 2025, the dispute between India and Pakistan was quite heated. Because this tournament was going to be held in Pakistan and India was demanding hybrid model. Later ICC was successful in resolving this issue by accepting India’s demand. But now a new controversy has arisen. This time the demand for boycott of the match against Afghanistan from England has started rising. This demand has been raised by more than 160 MPs of Britain.
Why did the issue of boycott of England-Afghanistan match arise?
More than 160 British MPs have demanded the England cricket team to boycott the Champions Trophy match against Afghanistan next month. England has to play a group-stage match against Afghanistan in Lahore, Pakistan on 26 February. On this, British MPs issued a letter on Monday appealing to the players and officials of England to raise their voice against the violation of women’s rights in Afghanistan.
The letter further said, “We also urge the ECB to consider boycotting the upcoming match against Afghanistan in the ICC Champions Trophy group stage on 26 February to send a clear message that such grave atrocities will not be tolerated.” “will not be tolerated.”
ECB Chief Executive Officer expressed his views
ECB Chief Executive Richard Gould, reacting on this issue, said that the England cricket team has always supported the development of women’s cricket. He also said that the ECB would support working together with all countries in this matter, because working together with the entire ICC would have a greater impact than taking individual steps.
Gold further said, “There is no consensus yet on this issue at the ICC level, but the ECB will continue to try to take such steps. If all the member countries take a decision together, it will be more important than any one member country taking action alone.” It will be effective.”
