
Champions trophy 2025 team: The 12 members of the ‘Team of the Tournament’ selected for the Champions Trophy include six Indian players with Karishmai Virat Kohli big name. India won the tournament for the third time by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final here on Sunday. India won the Champions Trophy in 2002 (joint winners) and 2017 and have been runners -up twice in 2000 and 2017. Apart from Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul, ‘Mystery’ spinner Varun Chakraborty and fast bowler Mohammed Shami are included in the final XI while all-rounder Akshar Patel has been chosen as the 12th player.
Four members of the New Zealand team are also in the team, including the ‘Player of the Tournament’ Rachin Ravindra while Mitchell St.ner has been made the captain. Two Afghanistan players have also made it to the team as the Asian country has won its first match of the ICC Men Champions Trophy in its debut match itself. Rachin Ravindra was expected to be selected in the top order as he scored two centuries and topped the list scoring 263 runs.

Ibrahim Jadaran attended the top order with Rachin Ravindra. The 23 -year -old Afghanistan’s 23 -year -old made his mark in the tournament and scored a brilliant innings of 177 against England in the group stage, the highest score of the Champions Trophy so far. Kohli of India is third in the team after finishing fifth in the list scoring 218 runs at an average of 54.50. Kohli scored a memorable unbeaten century in his team’s victory in the group phase over Pakistan and scored an important innings of 84 runs in the semi -final win over world champions Australia.
Rahul and Shreyas have a chance in the middle order
Team’s companions Shreyas and Rahul have joined him in the middle order after an impressive tournament. Iyer was India’s top run -scorer in the tournament, he scored a total of 243 runs with the help of two half -centuries while Rahul scored an unbeaten innings of 42 and 34 runs respectively in the semi -finals and finals. Glenn Philips of New Zealand has been selected at number six after a brilliant performance in bat and fielding. Filips catching with one hand diverted with one hand to dismiss Shubman Gill in the final was one of the three excellent catches throughout the tournament, while the 28 -year -old player scored a half -century against Pakistan and took two wickets with an unbeaten 49 against South Africa in the semi -finals.
Afghani all -rounder Ajmatullah Umarzai also got a place
Ajmatullah is the second Afghan player in the Umarzai team. Fast bowler all -rounder performed brilliantly with both bat and ball. After coming to second place with nine wickets in the tournament, Santner was made the captain of the team, but more importantly he took wickets at the crucial time. Shami of India returned from injury and made it to the team and took nine wickets. Matt Henry unfortunately could not play in the finals due to a shoulder injury which he was in New Zealand during the semi -final win over South Africa but still he was the highest wicket -taker in the tournament with 10 wickets at an average of 16.70. The team consists of Varun Chakraborty who took nine wickets in just three matches. He threw his entire overs in all three matches.
