Champions Trophy: Pakistani selectors have included opening batsman Saim Ayub, who is recovering from a right ankle injury, in Pakistan’s preliminary squad for next month’s Champions Trophy tournament.
Pakistan Cricket Board has not officially announced the team but it is certain that it has stars like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan. An informed source said that the selectors have included Saim although he is not fully fit yet.
Changes to the initial team can be made until February 13. Saim is currently undergoing treatment in London at the expense of PCB.
The source said, “Saim is still in London because if the doctors say so, he will start his rehabilitation there and the doctors will also be able to see whether he is recovering or not.” If after the final test report comes this week, the doctors say that rehabilitation can be done in Lahore, then he will return.
