China Brahmaputra Dam India : China is going to build the world’s largest dam. Only last month, China has announced to build a ‘Super Dam’ on the Yarlung Jangbo River in Tibet. Yarlung Jangbo River of China is known as Brahmaputra River in India. At the same time, India expressed concern about this dam that China can use this dam as a weapon. Now clarification has been given by China regarding this.
Wang Lei of the Chinese Embassy in India said in his article written by Indian Express that this dam will not cause any harm to India. He said, “Some people are seeing this project as an achievement of green energy on behalf of China, while some people are calling it a ‘Chinese weapon or time bomb’.” But its truth is actually something else.
He said, “The Yarlung Zangbo River is the world’s highest major river, which passes through the world’s steepest and steepest river. It is one of the largest untapped water resources of Asia. China’s proposed project is located in the lower reaches of the river, where its steep slopes make it one of the largest river energy concentrations on the planet. This project with a capacity of 60 gigawatts will generate approximately 300 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually. This is necessary to tackle climate change.”
Concern in India due to China’s mega-project
Environmentalists in India are expressing concern about the mega-project being built in the mountainous region of China. He says that due to this dam, water flow in the north-eastern states of India and Bangladesh may be affected. Regarding this, Wang Lei said, “After decades of investigation, the environment has been completely taken care of in this project. China’s intention is not to use water from the dam but to use water energy. “After the completion of the dam construction, the disaster will be reduced by storing water during flood days and releasing water in summer.”
