Uribe was addressing a rally in the capital Bogota. The presidential elections are due in 2026 in Colombia. Miguel Urbe is considered to be the chief contender for the presidential president. 39 -year -old Urribe is a member of the opposition Centro Democratico Conservative Party.
The party issued a statement saying that the attacker shot in the back during his address to Uribe. Bogota Mayor Carlos Galan said that the attack took place in Fontibon area of the city. In view of the condition of Uribe, hospitals across the city have been kept on alert.
