Anurag Thakur Statement: Hamirpur MP and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anurag Thakur on Saturday termed the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh as one of the “most incompetent and corrupt governments” in the state since Independence. Thakur accused the Congress of making “false promises” to gain power.
Addressing the BJP’s ‘Akrosh Rally’ here, the former Union Minister alleged that the government of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu stopped the projects started by the previous BJP government. He hit out at the Congress for “cheating” the people by making “false promises” ahead of the 2022 assembly elections.
Thakur said, “Forget the promise of giving Rs 1,500 and five lakh jobs to women in the age group of 18 to 59 because even in government jobs, people are not being given salaries and pensions on time.”
He alleged that even medical staff recruited during the Covid period were shown the door and those doing ‘internship’ had to wait for four months for their salaries.
The BJP MP alleged that Himachal Pradesh is feeling embarrassed because of the Congress government. He said that cess has been imposed on electricity, surcharge has been imposed on water and the prices of ration have increased manifold.
Thakur said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘knock-knock’ model was declared useless in Maharashtra and Haryana and people voted for the BJP.
Rajya Sabha member and BJP leader Sikandar Kumar said that when Congress came to power, people had high expectations, but today even the ruling party MLAs are unhappy. He claimed that every section of the society is troubled by this government.
On this occasion, Una Sadar MLA Satpal Satti, former MLA Rajesh Sharma, Chaitanya Sharma, Devendra Bhutto, Balbir Chaudhary, former minister Virendra Kanwar and other BJP leaders were also present.
