Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammad made objectionable remarks about Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, on which the party on Monday reprimanded him and advised to avoid such comments from further.
Pawan Kheda, the head of the party’s media department, said that Shama’s comment is not the opinion of the Congress. Shama posted late on Sunday night on the social media platform “X” in which she called Sharma as ‘Mota’ and ‘ineffective captain’. He has removed his disputed post.
Many people including BJP leaders reacted to his post and targeted the main opposition party. His remarks came at a time when the Indian cricket team has won the semi -finals in the current Champions Trophy.
Shama had said in her post that Sharma “is fat in terms of being a player.” He also said, “He needs to lose weight!” … And of course India’s most ineffective captain so far. “Kheda said,” Dr. Shama Mohammed, the national spokesperson of the Indian National Congress, made some comments about a cricket veteran that does not reflect the party’s position. “
He said that he (Shama) has been asked to remove the post related posts, and has been advised to take more precautions in future. Kheda said, “The Indian National Congress gives supreme respect to the contribution of the heroes of the game and does not support any statement that weakens his legacy.”
BJP leader Shahzad Poonawala targeted the Congress over Shama Mohammad’s remarks. He posted on ‘X’, “Those who have lost 90 elections under the captaincy of Rahul Gandhi are describing Rohit Sharma’s captaincy as ineffective.” In Delhi, being dismissed at zero six times and 90 times the election defeat is impressive, but not winning the T20 World Cup! By the way, Rohit’s track record as captain is excellent. ”
BJP leader and Delhi government minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, “It is very embarrassing that an official spokesperson of Congress is making such a statement.” This is the statement of the Congress. He feels that only one person is suitable for everything and that is Rahul Gandhi. “He said,” He is so against the country that today we are using abusive language against the cricket captain of our country. I don’t know what they mean by this. It is really shameful and I condemn it. The whole country is watching the mindset of the Congress. ”
Shiv Sena (Ubatha) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi said, “I am not a big cricket fan. Despite my limited interest in the game, I can say that Rohit Sharma has brought the Indian team to great heights. Commitment to work matters. Trophy Jeeto, Champion! ”
