According to the news agency IANS, Akshar Patel can soon be appointed the captain of Delhi Capitals. Sources quoted IANS said that KL Rahul was offered the captaincy, but he has turned down the captaincy offer. Sources said, “For IPL 2025, Akshar Patel can be appointed as the captain of Delhi Capitals. The franchise had asked KL Rahul about captaincy, but he wants to contribute to Delhi’s performance as a player instead of captain in the upcoming tournament.”
KL Rahul rejected Delhi’s captaincy offer
KL Rahul has the experience of captaining 2 teams in the IPL. He captained the Punjab Kings in 2020 and 2021, but in both the season, Punjab had to be content with the sixth position in the points table. At the same time, by 2022-2024, he took up the responsibility of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and also took the team to the playoffs twice.
