The price of a domestic vegetarian plate in India has come down by 5.76% to Rs 26.20 in May (on an annual basis). In May-2024 last year, the price of Veg Thali was Rs 27.80. Capital Market Company Crisil gave this information in its food plate cost’s monthly indicator.
Crisil reported in its rice bread rate (RRR) report that the price of vegetarian plate declined in May in May compared to April. The Veg plate was priced at Rs 26.30 in April.
Non-veg plate also became 6% cheaper At the same time, the price of non-veg plate has come down by 6% to Rs 52.6 on a annual basis in May. In May-2024 last year, the non-veg plate was priced at Rs 55.9.
The price of non-veg plate declined by 2.41% in May in May on the monthly basis i.e. April. The price of non-veg plate in April was Rs 53.9.

Potatoes, onions and tomatoes are cheap, the price of wedge plate decreased
According to Crisil’s report, the cost of veg plate has decreased due to the price of potato, onion and tomato. The price of tomatoes has come down from Rs 33 per kg to Rs 29% to Rs 23 per kg on an annual basis. The price of onion has fallen by 15% and potato prices have declined by 16%. Due to this, the price of Veg Thali has declined. Potatoes and tomatoes have a 24% stake in the cost of veg plate.
The price of non -veg plate decreased due to falling pric on chicken
This decrease in the price of non -veg plate has come due to a 6% decline in the price of broolers i.e. chicken on an annual basis. Prices have been reduced due to more supply and low demand between the report of bird flu in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and parts of Karnataka. The broiler has a 50% stake in the cost of non-veg plate.
At the same time, due to increase in import duty, the price of vegetable oil on an annual basis has increased 19% and the price of petroleum gas cylinders has increased by 6%, otherwise both the plates could have been even more cheaper.
Pushan Sharma, director of Crisil Intelligence, said that the prices of vegetables may increase due to further seasonal changes and there is a slight decrease in the prices of wheat and pulses amidst strong domestic production. Meanwhile, rice prices may increase.
