One-fourth of America’s oil consumption comes from Canada. Alberta exports 4.3 million barrels of oil per day to the US. In addition, Canada provides approximately 3.6 billion Canadian dollars worth of goods and services to 36 US states every day. Despite these trade ties, Trump’s statement that America does not need oil or anything else from Canada could further strain relations between the two countries.
