Why people are boycot of Tesla
1. resentment against Musk due to retrenchment of government employees US President Donald Trump has made Ilon Musk head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to improve the government department. This department is emphasizing on cutting government spending.
The Department of Musk has fired about 20 thousand people from government jobs to reduce spending, while 75 thousand people have decided to leave a byout (quitting job).
On the advice of Musk’s department, Trump had stopped the help given to poor and developing countries around the world under the International Development Agency (USAID).
Due to these reasons, there is a lot of anger against Musk and his company.
2. Musk accused of supporting right -wing parties Musk has supported many right -wing parties in Europe in the last few months. There has been a large number of displeasure against this.
Britain- Musk had appealed to the British King Charles to dissolve the Parliament. He accused the Britain’s PM Kir Stmper that he had failed to punish the rape victims 15 years ago when he was the director of public prosecution.
Germany- Musk supported the right -wing party Alternative Fur Doubtland (AFD) in the German election. He had said on social media X that only AFD can save Germany. AFD is expected to the country. This party can give a better future to the country.
France- Musk has not yet openly supported any right -wing party in France, but there is resentment in France also in Europe’s affairs. French President Emmanuel Macron had said that 10 years ago who would have thought that one of the world’s largest social networks would support the International Reaction Movement.
Italy- Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has described Elon Musk as her friend. He had said that I can be both Musk’s friend and the Prime Minister of Italy together. Meloni is considered a right -wing leader.
3. People are angry at Tesla Company Sorting Tesla trimmed 4% of employees at its Autonomous Driving Research Agency in February. This is the same agency that was working to improve Tesla’s self-driving technology. Thousands of employees lost their jobs due to a sudden retrenchment, which increased their displeasure.
Employees and unions alleged that Musk sorted a large scale in Tesla without any prior notice. This made them on the road. Due to this, Musk is facing heavy opposition. According to the National High-Way Traffic Safety Administration, government agencies are also investigating this retrenchment.

It also had an impact on Musk’s net worth. From January 2025 to March, the net worth of Musk fell by $ 132 billion, or about Rs 11 lakh crore. It also includes a fall of $ 29 billion in the same day of March.

Trump and Netanyahu supported Musk
Musk and his team have taken some important steps to deal with this crisis-
- Political Advocacy: Musk has the support of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against the propaganda of Tesla car. Both leaders posted on social media and praised Musk’s Tesla car. Trump even supported Musk by purchasing a Tesla car. Apart from this, Tesla also said to punish the car burn.
- PR Campaign: Tesla issued an official statement saying that this protest is motivated by politics and the company is committed to offering the best services to its customers.
- Talks with Employees: Musk recently held a meeting with Tesla’s employees and assured them that the company is planning to provide more jobs in future.
- New Business Policy: Tesla is now focusing on improving its marketing and public image, so that people’s trust can be won back. US President Donald Trump had supported Musk by purchasing a Tesla car.
Why does Tesla want entry in India Tesla is a major company in the electric vehicle sector worldwide. The company’s market cap is close to $ 850 billion. Tesla is looking for a new market due to increasing resentment in the US and Europe and the competition of China’s Electric Vehicle (EV) company BYD (Build Your Dreams).
On the other hand, the demand for electric vehicle in India is increasing rapidly. India’s electric vehicle market is worth $ 54.41 billion. It is expected to reach $ 110.7 billion by 2029. According to estimates, the Indian market will grow at a speed of about 19% by 2029.

PM Modi and Ilon Musk met at Washington DC on 14 February.
Why did not get entry in India till now Tesla and the Government of India could not be able to talk due to prolonged import duty. The company believed that India has a lot of import duty. On the other hand, the government had no intention of forgiving or decreasing import duty on EV.
The government had said that if Tesla commits a manufacturing plant in India, then concession on import duty will be considered. Musk wanted to sell cars in India first, followed by setting up manufacturing plant.
Replying to a tweet on 27 May 2022, Musk said that Tesla would not set up a manufacturing plant at any location, where it is not already permission to sell cars and service.
Now India recently reduced import duty from 110% to 70% on cars priced more than $ 40,000 (about Rs 35 lakh). This decision made the circumstances favorable for Tesla. Apart from this, the meeting of Musk and Modi helped in this.
Now Tesla is also preparing to set up its plant in India. The company is looking for land. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are a priority of the company.

Musk visited India in 2021, when Tesla would open the first manufacturing unit in Bengaluru.
How did Tesla make Ilon Musk so rich? Ilon Musk’s main means of property is Tesla. Ilon Musk did not establish Tesla, but in 2004, invested around Rs 54 crore and joined it.
Due to this investment, he became the biggest shareholder and later became CEO and product architects. He maintained his ownership stake for years, causing his assets to grow continuously. Tesla launched the IPO in 2010. Then one of its share was priced at Rs 1400.
Gradually, its share price increased due to increasing demand for Tesla cars and heavy investment in shares. In 2021, Tesla’s share reached Rs 1 lakh. This led to a huge bounce in Musk’s property.
Musk does not receive any salary, rather he is given performance-based stock options. In 2018, Tesla’s board gave him a package of Rs 4.5 lakh crore, which became the world’s largest CEO salary deal. These stock options allow them to purchase Tesla’s shares at a discounted price, leading to their wealth further.
In 2021, Tesla’s market cap had gone above the $ 1 trillion $ 83 lakh crore. Since Musk had 15-25% Tesla shares, his net worth also increased with Tesla. Whenever Tesla’s shares grow, Musk’s property automatically increases.
The company earned the highest profit during 2021-2023 and secured the number 1 position in the electric vehicle market. Due to Tesla’s success, Musk’s net worth reached $ 250-300 billion.

Tesla’s decline in market beneficial for Chinese company byd Byd (Build Your Dreams) is China’s largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer. This company was initially adept at battery manufacturing. It later entered the production of electric and hybrid cars.
Today byd has become the largest EV manufacturer in the world. It is not only a car, but also a leader in electric bus, truck, and battery technology. The segul hatchback of Byd is available for only $ 9900, or about 8.25 lakh rupees, while Tesla’s cheapest model starts at $ 33500 i.e. about 28 lakh rupees.

The biggest strength of Byd is “Blade Battery”, which is more secure and long life. Byd sales have increased continuously. In the last quarter of 2023, byd sold 52 lakh cars, while Tesla was able to sell only 48 lakh cars.
The new charging platforms of Byd can charge cars up to 400 km in 5 minutes, which is faster than Tesla. The Chinese government has subsidized byd, so that it can make high-tech cars at a low price.
BYD demand in Europe due to low carbon emissions Byd strengthened its hold by launching budget-friendly and high-performance EVs in Europe. The popular model of BYD Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal cars are making a splash in the European market.
In Hungary and Germany, byd has opened manufacturing plants, which further reduced the price of cars. Byd demand is increasing due to battery technology and low carbon emissions in Europe.
On the other hand, the US government is taking several steps to prevent BYD from growing in its market. The US has imposed heavy tax on imported electric cars from China, making BYD vehicles expensive.
The government has excluded Chinese EV companies from the government tender. The United States claims that the Chinese government may have spy technology in Byd’s cars and batteries.
