

Freestyle Chess: World champion D Gukesh will take on Fabiano Karuana in the quarter -finals of two arms as the American player has chosen the Indian player to compete at the unique -forming freestyle chess Grand Slam.
Gukesh made it to the knockout stage while finishing eighth among 10 participants. Vladimir Fedosave of Slovenia and Levon Aronian of the US failed to make it to a place in the knockout. Fedosave and Aronian finished last two positions after the round robin phase played under the Rapid Chess Rules.
Alireja Feroza of France defeated Javokhir Sindarov of Uzbekistan in the final round and topped the points table. According to the tournament rules, the top three players have the right to decide their opponents in the quarter -finals after the round robin. Feroza chose Germany’s Vincent Cammer as his opponent in the final eight, while Sindarov surprised everyone by choosing Hikaru Nakamura of America. Karuana chose Gukesh.
Another match will be between Magnus Carlson of Norway and Nodirbek Abdoustorov of Uzbekistan. The knockout will be a separate format and will be played under the classical chess rules. In this format, the position of the stamps is changed just before the start of the bet and the actual chess skills are tested instead of the skill of starting the bet. There are 960 different ways to keep the stamps, so this format is still popularly known as ‘Chess 960’.
Each knockout will have two arms and a short -term jajis will be played to determine the winner if there is a tie. The total prize money of this tournament is US $ 7,50,000, out of which the winner will get two million dollars. So far this year, five tournaments have been announced and there is an additional bonus of one and a half million dollars, one million dollars and 50 thousand dollars for the players living on top three.
