
Germany Election 2025: In the 2025 national election held in Germany on Sunday (23 February), Chancellor Olaf Scolz’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) has suffered a crushing defeat. According to the latest exit poll, opposition leader Frederick Merge’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU) support parties are moving towards victory. If Merge’s party wins, this will be the first time after World War II when a right -wing party in Germany will return to power.
According to the news agency Xinhua, new surveys show that CDU and CSU parties are ahead with 29 percent support. While Alternative for Germany (AFD) got 21 percent support and Chancellor Olaf’s party SPD has got only 15 percent support. However, 22 percent of the respondents are still stated to be uncertain, due to which there is doubt about the last result.

Chancellor Olaf Scolz accepted his defeat, saying, “This is a bitter election result for us.” Scolz described this election defeat as a painful loss for his party on the basis of exit poll. On the other hand, Frederick Merge claimed his party’s victory in the election and said that his party will soon form a government alliance.

Frederick Merge said, “We have prepared ourselves very well for this Bundestag election and to take over government responsibility.” Their goal is to form a stable government alliance as soon as possible, so that a new government can be formed in Germany.
