Mallikarjun kharge: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday alleged that the central government is weakening the Right to Information Act (RTI) in the name of data protection.
He also said that the Congress will not allow RTI to weaken and will raise voice from Parliament to the road against such efforts.
Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha posted on the social media platform ‘X’, “On one hand India has been coming to the top position in misleading propaganda and propaganda, on the other hand the Modi government is bent on weakening by bringing the Right to Information Act, the Right to Information Act implemented by the Congress-Sangrag.”
He said that whether the list of public sector information such as ration cords, the beneficiaries of MNREGA, the names of the people involved in the schemes of public welfare, voter list, or the names of scamsters who escaped abroad by taking loans from public sector banks …, it is necessary for the public.
The Congress President alleged that the Narendra Modi government is weakening RTI in the name of data protection, so that such names will not be made public anymore. Kharge said, “The right to privacy is a fundamental right and the Congress has fought for it, but where it comes to public welfare, the right to information is necessary. The right to privacy was also taken care of in the RTI, which came during the Congress, but this does not mean that the list of beneficiaries or the names of the scamsters should not be made public.
He stressed that the Congress party will not allow RTI to be weak. He said, “We have raised their voice for this earlier, and will continue to raise their voice from road to Parliament. This dictatorship will continue to fight with the government to secure the rights of the people.
