Hansal Mehta responded to producer Naga Vamsi‘s claim that ‘Mumbai didn’t sleep’ after Pushpa 2 Earned Rs 80 crore in a day. Mehta criticized Vamsi for his “arrogance” and also pointed out in an Lucky Bhaskarhad borrowed heavily from the Scam series.

He added, “Reason I brought this up is that I feel happy that stories travel and a film in another language succeeds in replicating what has worked for us. Everybody wins. Nobody is bigger than the other. That narrative is destructive. Arrogance is even worse.”

Naga Vamsi joined Boney Kapoor at the producers’ roundtable by Galatta Plus, where he shared that “the whole of Mumbai didn’t sleep” after Pushpa 2 made over ₹80 crore in a single day. Boney Kapoor clarified that the figures Vamsi mentioned were from the Hindi belt alone.
Scam 1992 (2020), directed by Hansal Mehta, is based on the life of Harshad Mehta, portrayed by Pratik Gandhi. Scam 2003 (2023), directed by Tushar Hiranandani with Mehta as co-director, focuses on the counterfeiting of stamped paper by Abdul Karim Telgi in the early 2000s, with Gagan Dev Riar in the lead role.
Pushpa 2 starring Allu Arjun became the biggest blockbuster of 2024, grossing Rs 1500 crore globally. Notably, the film’s Hindi version alone contributed Rs 775.50 crore to the total earnings.
