
Hezbollah Top Commander Shot Dead: Hezbollah’s top leader Sheikh Muhammad Ali Hamadi was shot dead in his home. On Tuesday (January 21, 2025), unknown gunmen attacked Hamadi in the Bekaa Valley area of ​​eastern Lebanon. A local Hezbollah commander was shot six times in Machghara in the western Bekaa district. Hamadi was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died after some time.
According to the Times of Israel, Lebanese authorities suspect that Hamadi had a years-old family feud that led to the incident. After the attack on Hamadi, the attackers fled from the spot. At present the matter is being investigated. Hamadi was also included in the list of most wanted terrorists of the American agency FBI. He hijacked a plane going from Athens to Rome with 153 passengers and crew members.
The incident took place during Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire
This incident took place a few days before the end of the initial 60-day ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah. According to the agreement, Israel has to withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon by January 26. Meanwhile, Hezbollah will have to retreat north of the Litani River from the Israeli border.
