Jasprit Bumrah on Sam Konstas: Australia’s 19-year-old new batsman Sam Constas may have hit two sixes in his spell but India’s champion fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah on Saturday said that he never felt that he was away from the wicket.
Bumrah said that it was an interesting match with Constas on the first day of the fourth Test. He said that he could have dismissed him six-seven times in the first two overs. Constas scored 62 runs in 65 balls and also hit two sixes to Bumrah. For the first time in three years in Test cricket, a batsman hit a six off Bumrah.
Bumrah told Channel 7, “I don’t see things that way. I am bowling well and the results are in my favor but I have bowled better at different places. What happens in cricket is that sometimes you get wickets but sometimes you don’t get wickets even after bowling well. Everything works equally.” He said, ”I have played T20 cricket for more than 12 years and have a lot of experience in it.”
Bumrah, who has taken 24 wickets so far this year in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, said, “Interesting batsman (Contas). I didn’t feel that I was away from the wicket. Initially I thought I could get him out six-seven times in the first two overs but that’s what happens in cricket. Sometimes you get a wicket and when you don’t, you criticize the same person.
He said, “I like to face new challenges.” Bumrah, who made his debut in ODI cricket in Australia, said that he has always performed best here. He said, “I have always performed my best in Australia. I played Test here for the first time in 2018 and made my ODI debut in 2016. There are a lot of challenges here because the wickets are flat and the Kookaburra helps with the new ball but not later.
He said, “That’s why your accuracy is tested.” The weather tests your fitness and patience. Once you overcome these challenges, you become a better cricketer.
