New Delhi. Most people feel that electric vehicles are sold more in metros, but truth is completely opposite. Looking at the recently released data, it is found that UP has sold the most e-vehicles and in this case cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore were also left behind. The most e-vehicles are currently running in UP. After UP, in Delhi, this figure is not even half of it.
According to the data released by the UP government, there are more than 4.14 lakh electric vehicles (EVs) in the state and it has become the state of most e-vehicle. In second place, 1.83 lakhs are running in Delhi and 1.79 lakh e-vehicles in the third place Maharashtra. Statistics are clearly stating that most electric vehicles are running in Uttar Pradesh at this time.
Fast -growing charging stations
Electric vehicles (EV) have emerged as a better solution to today’s environmental challenges amid global discussion on issues of environment and climate change. According to a statement, the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath implemented a new electric vehicle manufacturing and transport policy in the year 2022, aimed at rapidly promoting EV’s acceptance, establishing a strong network of charging infrastructure and making the state a global center of EV and battery manufacturing.
Fast growing e-rickshaw
Under this policy of the UP government, the state government is working fast towards attracting an investment of 30 thousand crore rupees and creating 10 lakh jobs. The widespread popularity of e-rickshaw (three-wheelers) in Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Kanpur and Lucknow, including tourism towns of Uttar Pradesh, has gained 85 per cent in EV sales, which have proved useful for passenger and Mal Loja in urban areas, especially in urban areas.
Fame-1 and 2 schemes also helpful
Apart from this, Uttar Pradesh has further promoted e-transportation by becoming the biggest beneficiary of Fame one and two (faster adoptation and manufacturing of hybrid and electric vehicle in India) schemes. Paying special attention to the development of infrastructure like charging, the government has also taken important steps in this area.
300 charging stations will be installed
Recently, the government has decided to set up more than 300 new charging stations in 16 municipal bodies of the state. Most of these charging stations are to be set up in Ayodhya, where the number of tourists is being seen continuously. There are currently 33,000 EV charger in the country, out of which 35 percent are fast charger. In view of the increasing demand for electric vehicles, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has insisted on building more fast charging stations and improving existing stations.
10 million more e-vehicle goal
Experts say that by 2030, there will be 10.2 crore EVs in India. However, two -wheeler and three -wheelers in India, mostly charged at home, reduce the demand for public charging stations. Nevertheless, the Uttar Pradesh government is working fast to meet this shortage. There are three main points in the government’s strategy. These include EV construction, expansion of charging network and increasing interest in people towards EV.
