Shane Watson Sam Konstas: The fifth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3. Earlier, Sam Constance played his debut test match for Australia in the Melbourne Test played between India and Australia. In which Constance troubled the Indian bowlers a lot with his explosive batting. Even Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling could not do anything amazing in front of him. Now former Australian cricketer Shane Watson has praised Constus’s explosive debut innings.
“I understood what their game plan was – what was Plan A. So when Plan B came in within a few overs, it happened,” Shane Watson said during the ICC Champions Trophy tour at the Sydney Cricket Ground, as reported by SPNCricinfo. “It was a bit surprising. But one thing we’ve always discussed is trusting your gut.”
Talking about his experience with Sam Constance, Shane Watson said, “Working with Sam, I thought he was a very calm and collected person, who thinks deeply and does not speak much. But in the Test match, we saw that He is completely different – he performed brilliantly without pressure and showed his ability.”
Sam Constas scored 60 runs in 65 balls at a strike rate of 92.30 in the first innings, which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. In the second innings, Constance was out on the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah after scoring 8 runs in 18 balls. But Shane Watson is confident that Constus will prove himself in red-ball cricket.
Shane Watson further said, “Sam has the confidence to play on the big stage. He is very strong technically and waits for the loose balls. He also has the ability to hit the ball on the ground. However, when the field is set And if options like ramp shot are cut off, it will be interesting to see how he adjusts.”
