IND vs AUS: The five-match Test series being played between India and Australia has reached its last stage. Four test matches have been played so far in the series. The fifth and last Test match of the series will be played in Sydney from January 03. Australia has announced its playing eleven before the last test match of Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Australia, while announcing its playing eleven for the last Test, has shown the way out to Mitchell Marsh and has decided to include Beau Webster in the team. Let us tell you that Mitchell Marsh’s bat has not been able to show anything special in this series so far, due to which he has been dropped from the team.
Captain Pat Cummins has confirmed Australia’s playing eleven in Sydney. The last Test of the series between India and Australia is starting from January 3 in Sydney. However, Beau Webster got his place in the team only after the defeat in the Perth Test. Mitchell Marsh was injured during the Perth Test, due to which Webster was included in the team as a backup.
Disappointing performance in the entire series
However, Marsh’s injury was not that serious and even after the defeat in the Perth Test, the team management remained confident in him. Therefore he remained a part of the series. But, after Perth, when he did not score runs in Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne, the Australian team management decided to debut Beau Webster in his place.
Mitchell Marsh is Australia’s great all-rounder
Mitchell Marsh has scored just 73 runs with the bat at an average of 10.42 in 7 innings of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Whereas in bowling, he took only 3 wickets in 6 innings. Marsh is suffering the consequences of this poor form. Mitchell Marsh may be struggling with poor form right now but he is Australia’s top all-rounder. His role was important in Australia winning the ODI World Cup, where he scored 441 runs in 10 matches with 2 centuries and 1 half-century.
Talking about Beau Webster who made his debut for Australia, he will be the number 469 player to make his Test debut for Australian cricket. His average in first class cricket since March 2022 has been 57.10. During this period, he has taken 81 wickets at an average of 31.70.
