IND vs Eng Test Series: England fast bowler Jofra Archer has returned to the red ball cricket after four years, but there is still a debate about his fitness and form. Before the second Test starting in Edgbaston from July 2 against India, the discussion is in the headlines whether Jofra should be included in the playing XI against India.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan and Sussex’s head coach Paul forbress Jofra are against returning to the team. At present, both are considering it as a hurry. Von and Paul believe that Jofra should be given some more time so that he can fit to play the match completely.
Michael Vaughan said, “Preparation for Test is not decided by a match”
Jofra Archer announced his return by playing a county championship against Durham on Sunday. Jofra took one wicket for 32 runs in 18 overs while playing for Sussex. This was his first first class match which he played after 2021. England selector Luke Wright had already announced that if Jofra plays this match of the County Championship, he could be available to play the second Test against India.
However, Michael Vaughan does not agree at all. Talking on the BBC Test Match Special, Michael Vaughan said, “It is not the right decision to include the returned player in the Test team directly on the basis of a county match performance.
Vaughan believes that Archer should allow another four -day match to play so that he can return to better rhythm and then only take a decision.
